Meet The Creators – Spike
Tell us a little bit about yourself, and your background before getting into NFTs.
I got into crypto in September/October 2017. Up to that point I had built a small portfolio of individual stocks and ETFs and it was time to look at this exciting new market. I had been interested in it for a while and decided to take the plunge and begin to invest into a crypto portfolio. Now, at this stage, I knew next to nothing about crypto and I started researching and getting deeper into the ideology. There are many more things I could write about the turbulent times of 2017–2018, — opportunities, steep learning curves, lessons I learned the hard way (some very expensive) and even some things I wished I never experienced. After almost 5 full time years in crypto I don’t regret a thing, I’ve met some awesome people along the way and learned so much about crypto and life in general.
How were you introduced to NFT’s?
I first entered the NFT space in July 2021, and it took me another two months to understand what on earth was going on in this upcoming community. I spent some time observing from the sidelines, I began to navigate, connect, and learn through research and listening some of the most prominent names in the space. Like a jigsaw puzzle, I was slowly assessing how I could fit into such a fast-paced climate. I had just joined the Proton community on Telegram/Twitter at that time and then I heard that Proton has NFTs too. I started getting more into it and started collecting a few and eventually Spike was born and I couldn’t be more grateful about everything so far.
Why did you choose Proton Blockchain to host your collection?
We choose Proton for many different reasons. It is a new public blockchain and smart contract platform designed for both consumer applications and peer-peer payments. It is built around a secure identity and financial settlements layer that allows users to directly link real identity and fiat accounts, pull funds and buy crypto, and use that crypto seamlessly in apps.
All user transactions are completely free. Send $1 to someone, the person gets $1. You pay nothing. All resources are handled by the app at extremely low-tiered costs. 4,000 Transactions per second. Every business and individual account on Proton has a unique human readable @name.
Tell us about your collection and the inspiration.
Spike is a verified collection of 1000 Spike NFTs — unique digital collectibles living on the Proton blockchain. We launched our project on October 30th. The concept of Spike started in the form of an illustration; Art created back in 2019.
The inspiration and influence of various video games, tv shows, films and anime series came together as a cyberpunk animated character design. And after some time, with great help from the whole Spike team, we decided to create and expand it to a world where Spike could exist in and where people could interact and enjoy great things from the Spike universe.
What benefits do your NFT holders have? (Passive Income, DAO, Airdrops)
We always ask ourselves “How can we reward Spike holders for their loyalty and engagement with their favorite creators?
Our mission is simple… to connect holders to their Spike characters, stories, and moments of the NFTs they know and love. We believe that NFTs allow for a deeper connection between holders and creators, and establish a two-way relationship between us.
Spike Cards is a loyalty program designed to reward Spike Holders by actively holding a Spike NFT, for interacting with our community and supporting Spike and its growth. Spike Cards are specifically minted for Spike Holders and can only be received by airdrops. Each card has its own perks and gets holders a Metaverse ready weapon.
What’s next for your project?
We are working hard to fulfill our roadmap milestones. We have been working on a staking platform where Spike holders would be able to stake their NFTs and earn Spike tokens in return.
