We’re back with another project in this month’s Proton May #BetterNFTs campaign. As a reminder, our goal is to introduce the incredibly talented creators behind the projects you know and love to help you learn more about the Proton ecosystem.
As part of the campaign, we publish a ‘Meet The Creators’ interview everyday, alongside an NFT giveaway from that creator, so you can learn more about their project, the inspiration behind each series, what’s next for them, and why they chose Proton.
Don’t forget: Proton allows users to mint NFTs instantly and without paying gas fees. Intelligent smart contracts ensure that creators earn royalties on future sales of their NFTs, allowing a pathway for artists to continue to earn income from their creations. And because Proton Market has an open-source template, talented creators can customize their own storefront to create a truly unique experience for their communities.
Please meet the team from another community favorite project, Proton Slammers!
Meet The Creators – Dub, Vsol, Mr. Internet, and Po
Tell us a little bit about yourself, and your background before getting into NFTs.
Dub – I’m a Cali kid from the 90’s who grew up on action sports and video games. Spent 10 years in the sporting goods industry before diving into the web3 deep end.
Xsol – More than ten years of game dev experience with multiple titles on PC and major consoles on his belt. Loves wrestling.
Mr. Internet – More than twenty years of organizing and building various online communities. Wrestling fan, just like Xsol.
Po – I was a fresh grad working as a Geospatial Data Scientist for a Market Research firm. Got tired of the corporate life real quick.
How were you introduced to NFT’s?
Dub – A sticker program I subscribed to offered a lifetime subscription NFT back when rarible first started. I setup a metamask wallet and paid the crazy gas fees, but I’m still getting those stickers each month.
Xsol – Probably helped create the first NFT
Mr. Internet – Was also probably in the room when NFTs were born.
Po – First heard about NFTs because of Axie but I really got into NFTs when my friends started making money buying and selling on Solana. Tried to get into that but I ended up losing $2000.
Why did you choose Proton Blockchain to host your collection?
We choose Proton for its practical aspects such as no gas fees and quick transactions. Allowing us to do things in games with NFT’S that you can’t do with ETH. No gas fees and easy usernames allows us to trade items smoothly, conveniently and instantly.
Tell us about your collection and the inspiration.
At the end of 2020, both Xsol and Mr. Internet talked about web3 and possible emerging opportunities to marry DAOs with our common interests. We chose wrestling because we were already fans, and we thought it would be a fun community to build. Our humble beginnings started with SLAMchain the coin and from there, follower the creation of DAO, Proton Slammers and now SLAM.Land.
What benefits do your NFT holders have? (Passive Income, DAO, Airdrops)
We are eyeing to build the largest collection of wrestling and web3 community as a priority. We also want to build the very first web3 game powered by the Proton network. With SLAM.Land, we want to create an experience where users can experience what it’s like to be a wrestler in the web3 space – traversing around looking for battles with other fellow SLAMMERS.
What’s next for your project?
We’re just getting started and off to a promising start – we just launched a new play and earn game on Proton Chain. Currently in alpha, this is the first version of what we hope will be an integral part of the SLAM Land ecosystem: A Turn-Based Strategy PvP Battler that takes full use of SLAM Token, Proton SLAMMERS, SLAM Caps, and upcoming SLAM Lands.
If you want to give a shoutout, now is your chance!
We would like to give a big THANKS to the team at Metal for the early support in starting Proton Slammers and the continued support in building SLAM Land.
